Updated: Mar 24, 2022

Sandy Springs, GA, USA – January 25, 2022 – First Impression has been awarded the Reserve National Champion Horse of the Year in Amateur Western Dressage Suitability by the US Equestrian Federation, and was recognized during the SmartPak/USEF Horse of the Year Awards Ceremony on January 15th in Naples, FL.

In addition to winning the Reserve National Champion Horse of the Year title, First Impression also earned 5 world championship titles at the 2021 Western Dressage Association (WDAA) of America World Championship show and was previously awarded a 2020 United States Dressage Federation Reserve National Champion All-Breed Award for Open First Level Dressage.

First Impression also earned his WDAA Register of Merit and Register of Achievement in a single competition during the 2021 competition year.

“First Impression has truly been a dream come true,” said his owner, JamieLynne Weiss. “His trainer, Marsha Hartford Sapp, has done a tremendous job bringing him along, always imagining what is possible. He has an incredible attitude and is always willing to learn something new, and seems to truly be thriving under this multi-disciplinary training approach.”

First Impression was initially imported to the United States for his potential as a performance hunter, but COVID-19 provided an opportunity to explore other disciplines, including classical and western dressage. The talented Polish Warmblood gelding has proven to be a top performing athlete in multiple rings at the national level.

First Impression was bred by Tadeusz Puchała and registered with the with the Polish Horse Breeders Association as Bosman (Aron sp. – Balada wlkp / Boss wlkp). As is common upon importation to the United States, Bosman’s name was changed to a more common English name where he is currently registered with the United States Equestrian Federation as First Impression.
